These terms are an agreement between you and the independent individual operator of Scripture Voyage ("we", "us"). They govern your use of Scripture Voyage ("the service"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
This is an early, invite-only beta. Features may change or disappear, and — though we work hard to avoid it — data could be lost. Please don't treat Scripture Voyage as the only record of your reading.
Eligibility & access
The service is currently available by invitation only, and access may be granted, limited, or revoked at our discretion. You must be old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live (and at least 13). You're responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.
Acceptable use
- Don't disrupt, overload, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service.
- Don't use it to harass others or to upload unlawful, infringing, or abusive content.
- Respect the privacy of the friends and companions you connect with.
- Don't scrape, bulk-download, or redistribute scripture text obtained through the service.
Scripture text & third-party content
Bible text is provided through API.Bible (American Bible Society). Some translations (for example NIV, NLT, and NASB) are copyrighted by their publishers and are made available under their license terms, which include usage tracking; others (such as KJV and WEB) are in the public domain. Scripture text is provided for your personal reading within the service only. It is not ours to give away, and your use of it is subject to the publishers' terms in addition to these.
Your content
Your reading history and other content remain yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store your content and show it back to you — and to companions you choose to share a voyage with — solely to operate the service. We claim no ownership of your reading data.
The service is provided "as is"
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of the service. Because the service is provided free of charge, our total liability for any claim is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).
Termination
You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if these terms are violated, or where needed to protect the service and its users.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in California will be the venue for any dispute, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Changes
We may update these terms as the service evolves. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version; continuing to use the service after changes take effect means you accept them.
